Bayero University Kano Warns Students Against Fake Payment Circular
Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has alerted its community about a fake circular circulating on social media, targeting students from the former Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies. The fraudulent message instructs students to pay N50,000 on or before 1 December 2025, claiming it is a mandatory university fee.
The circular, which bears the name “Saifullahi Dahiru” and the note “For Registrar,” is not an official communication from BUK and should be disregarded.
Details of the Fake Circular
The forged notice specifically mentions faculties that were part of the old Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies:
- Faculty of Languages, Linguistics and Theatre Arts
- Faculty of History and Development Studies
- Faculty of Islamic Studies and Sharia
Students in these faculties are the primary targets, but the University stresses that no such fee has been approved for any student.

The University clarified the following points:
- The circular is fake and has no official backing.
- No N50,000 payment has been authorised by any official body of the University.
- The message did not originate from the Office of the Registrar or any other University authority.
- BUK does not issue fee notices via random social media messages or unauthorized individuals.
- Students and parents are urged to ignore the circular entirely. Any payment made based on this message will not be recognized by the University.
