ATBU Adjusts 2024/2025 Academic Calendar Following ASUU Strike and Marking Extension

The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has released a revised academic calendar for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.

The updated schedule comes after a two-week industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and an additional one-week marking exercise extension, both of which affected academic timelines across departments and faculties.

According to a statement approved by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the University Senate, the revision was made to restore academic order and ensure smooth coordination of activities throughout the institution.


Highlights of the Revised ATBU Academic Calendar

The newly adjusted academic timetable details the following key activities for the second semester:

  • Board of Studies (Department, Faculty & College): Monday, 3rd – Thursday, 6th November 2025 (4 weeks)
  • Senate Business Committee: Friday, 7th – Wednesday, 12th November 2025 (4 working days; weekends excluded)
  • Senate Business Committee Corrections of Results: Thursday, 13th – Friday, 14th November 2025 (2 working days)
  • Senate Examinations Meeting: Monday, 17th November 2025 (1 working day)
  • Students’ Vacation: Monday, 29th September – Friday, 26th December 2025 (13 weeks, 3 days)
  • Academic Staff Annual Leave: Tuesday, 18th November – Friday, 31st December 2025 (6 weeks)
  • Commencement of 2025/2026 Academic Session: Monday, 2nd January 2026

ATBU Reassures Staff and Students

The university’s management has assured students and staff that the revised academic plan was carefully reviewed to align all administrative and academic activities within the adjusted timeframe.

In a statement to the campus community, ATBU reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic excellence, ensuring that assessments, grading, and official processes are completed efficiently before the new session begins.

Students are urged to plan their return accordingly and prepare ahead for the 2025/2026 academic session, which begins on January 2, 2026.
