AKSU Fixes Two Major Dates for 2026 Combined Convocation Ceremonies

The Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has officially announced the schedule for its 2026 Combined Convocation Ceremonies, covering graduands from the 2018/2019 academic session through the 2024/2025 session.

In a clear directive to students and the university community, the institution emphasized one key instruction:

Graduands must attend the ceremony that corresponds strictly to their academic session.

Here is everything you need to know.

6th–8th Combined Convocation Ceremony

Date: Saturday, 28 February 2026

This ceremony will accommodate graduands from the following academic sessions only:

  • 2018/2019 session
  • 2019/2020 session
  • 2020/2021 session

AKSU has made it clear that attendance is session-based. Graduands outside these three sessions are not expected to participate in the February ceremony.

If you completed your programme within these years, this is your official convocation date.

9th–12th Combined Convocation Ceremony

Date: 25 April 2026

The second ceremony will cater to graduands from:

  • 2021/2022 session
  • 2022/2023 session
  • 2023/2024 session
  • 2024/2025 session

This later date is strictly reserved for these four sessions. The university structured the grouping intentionally to ensure proper coordination and organization.

Important: Payment for Convocation Gown and Materials

AKSU has directed all affected graduands to:

  • Take note of their designated ceremony date
  • Make the required payment
  • Obtain their convocation gown and other necessary materials

The university stressed that payment is compulsory before gown collection. Graduands are advised not to delay in completing the required process to avoid last-minute complications.

Why This Announcement Matters

Combined convocations often involve multiple academic sessions due to scheduling adjustments over the years. By separating ceremonies into two major dates, AKSU aims to:

  • Ensure orderly participation
  • Avoid overcrowding
  • Allow proper recognition of each graduating class

Graduands are strongly encouraged to verify their academic session carefully and prepare accordingly.

Final Reminder to Graduands

If you graduated between 2018 and 2025, check your session and mark your calendar:

  • 28 February 2026 – For 2018/2019 to 2020/2021
  • 25 April 2026 – For 2021/2022 to 2024/2025

This is a once-in-a-lifetime academic milestone. Make sure you are part of the right ceremony.
