MDCN Announces 2025 Housemanship Vacancies Across Federal Hospitals

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has officially announced the release of new housemanship vacancies in approved federal hospitals nationwide. According to the Council, the update will be published on the MDCN Housemanship Portal on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

This announcement offers fresh opportunities for medical and dental practitioners who have recently completed their induction to begin their mandatory one-year housemanship training in accredited federal institutions.

How to Register on the MDCN Housemanship Portal

After receiving the Provisional Registration Certificate during induction, newly inducted practitioners are required to create a personal profile on the Housemanship Portal at www.housemanship.mdcn.gov.ng.

Once registered, applicants can apply for available positions in any of the 46 approved federal training hospitals under MDCN supervision.

The Council strongly warns that applications should not be submitted directly to any hospital or MDCN office. Contacting council staff or institutions personally or through intermediaries violates the Centralised Housemanship Placement Policy, and offenders risk being denied access to the portal.

Key Details About the MDCN Housemanship Scheme

  • The update applies only to the 46 federal hospitals accredited for housemanship training.
  • Each hospital’s number of vacancies is based on MDCN training capacity guidelines.
  • If a hospital is not listed on the portal, it means no current vacancies are available.
  • There are also 70 approved non-federal hospitals where graduates may apply directly for placement opportunities.
  • A complete list of approved housemanship centres is available on the official MDCN website:

How the Centralised Housemanship Scheme Works

The Centralised Housemanship Scheme was introduced to streamline the placement process for medical and dental graduates across Nigeria. It ensures:

  • Transparency in recruitment and placement;
  • Fair distribution of training opportunities; and
  • Standardised supervision across accredited hospitals.

Applicants are advised to read all portal instructions carefully and apply only through the official MDCN website to avoid disqualification or misinformation.

MDCN’s Commitment to Quality Medical Training

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) remains committed to maintaining high professional standards in medical and dental training. Through this transparent and centralised process, the Council aims to develop a new generation of qualified and competent healthcare professionals ready to serve in Nigeria’s growing health sector.
