NYSC Suspends NERD Compliance for 2025 Batch ‘C’ Uploads After Policy Postponement
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced that it will not enforce the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) compliance requirement for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ uploads.
This update follows the decision by NERD to postpone its earlier planned implementation, which was initially scheduled to begin on October 6, 2025, following the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Background: The Policy and Initial Directive
Earlier this month, the NYSC issued a circular dated October 7, 2025 (Reference: NYSC/DHQ/CM/M/373/VOL.3/81), directing all Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) to ensure their uploads were NERD-compliant in line with the federal directive.
The NERD initiative was designed to standardize and centralize educational data across Nigerian institutions, ensuring greater transparency and accountability.
However, with NERD’s latest postponement, the NYSC has now suspended compliance for the current mobilisation batch, offering temporary relief to institutions preparing for uploads.
NYSC Clarifies Its Current Position
In an official statement, the NYSC management confirmed that the compliance requirement “will no longer apply to 2025 Batch ‘C’ uploads,” allowing schools to continue with their regular data upload process.
According to the NYSC, the decision was made following formal communication from the NERD Secretariat, which has promised to release a new implementation date soon.
What This Means for Corps Producing Institutions
For now, Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) are advised to maintain their standard registration and upload procedures without integrating NERD compliance.
Once NERD finalizes and announces a revised timeline, the NYSC assured that all relevant updates will be promptly communicated to schools and stakeholders.
The management also appreciated the cooperation of tertiary institutions, administrators, and prospective corps members, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to smooth mobilisation and transparent communication.
Final Word: Stay Alert for Future Updates
With this temporary suspension, the NYSC has made it clear that NERD compliance will not affect the 2025 Batch ‘C’ mobilisation.
Institutions and students are encouraged to stay updated through official NYSC and NERD channels for the next phase of the implementation plan.
As both agencies continue to align on policy timelines, the NYSC reaffirmed its mission to ensure a seamless mobilisation process for all prospective corps members nationwide.
