2024 WASSCE Registration Begins for Candidates in Nigeria
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened registration for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for both school and private candidates in Nigeria.
The WASSCE is the standardized test taken by students across the country at the end of their senior secondary education. Successful performance in the exam is a key requirement for admission into tertiary institutions.
According to WAEC, registration for the 2024 WASSCE begins on May 15th and will close on July 31st, 2024. School candidates are expected to register through their respective school authorities while private candidates can register at any of WAEC’s zonal or branch offices across the 36 states.
The examination body warned candidates against patronizing unauthorized registration outlets or cybercafes, emphasizing that only registration through approved centers and platforms will be considered valid.
As part of the registration requirements, candidates must provide their National Identity Numbers (NINs) which have been made compulsory by the federal government to fight examination malpractice.
WAEC has also introduced some changes to the registration process and subjects offered based on the restructuring of the senior secondary curriculum by educational authorities.
The 2024 WASSCE for school candidates is scheduled to commence on August 12th, while that for private candidates will begin on September 2nd, 2024 in Nigeria. Detailed timetables will be published and made available to candidates in due course.
Candidates, parents, and relevant stakeholders have been advised to adhere strictly to registration guidelines and timelines to avoid issues during the critical exam period.
