UNILAG Faculty of Education Sets Date for 2025/2026 Teaching Practice Orientation

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Faculty of Education has officially announced the schedule for its Teaching Practice Orientation Programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., inside the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall B, UNILAG campus.

About the Orientation

This is not just another academic ceremony—it’s where theory meets practice. Themed “The Teaching Profession in the 21st Century: Between Theoretical Studies and Practical Realities”, the orientation is designed to prepare final-year (400 level) students in the Faculty of Education for real classroom experiences.

The programme marks the official launch of the teaching practice exercise, where student-teachers step beyond textbooks into actual school environments.

Record Participation

This year’s orientation comes with an impressive figure: 2,170 student-teachers are expected to participate.

Each will undergo a 12-week practical exercise, which includes:

  • Classroom observation
  • Lesson planning and delivery
  • Classroom management
  • Real teaching practice

Why This Matters

For students, the orientation is more than a requirement—it’s a rite of passage. It’s where confidence is built, chalk meets blackboard, and theories are tested in real classrooms.

For UNILAG, the programme continues its mission of bridging the gap between academic training and professional practice, ensuring future educators are not just trained, but truly prepared for Nigeria’s dynamic education system.
