The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebration across the country.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani. The government emphasized the importance of the Eid-ul-Adha period as a time for unity, spiritual reflection, and national peace.

Addressing the Muslim community, Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated worshippers in Nigeria and around the world. He encouraged Muslims to embody the core values of Eid-ul-Adha—faith, obedience, and sacrifice—as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

He further urged citizens to use the holiday period to pray for national unity and reflect on ways to foster peace and progress in their communities.

Government’s Call for Unity and Support

The minister also used the occasion to highlight ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that the administration remains committed to reviving the economy and rebuilding the nation.

In his words, “Let us come together and support the efforts of this government to restore Nigeria’s strength and greatness. Every citizen has a role to play in shaping a better future.”

As Nigerians prepare to celebrate this important Islamic festival, the Federal Government encourages all citizens to embrace the spirit of togetherness, patriotism, and shared responsibility.

Stay safe, stay united, and enjoy the holidays.
