ABSU Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Applicants for the PGD programmes must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: You must be a graduate from a recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • HND Holders: Those with Upper Credit in HND from a recognized institution are also eligible to apply.
  • Special Programme Requirements:
  • PGD in Business Administration requires O’level credits in English, Mathematics, and Economics.
  • PGD in Estate Management requires a good honours degree or professional certification from the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners.
  • PGD in Microbiology requires a background in fields such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Laboratory Technology, Food Science and Technology, or Chemistry.
  • PGD in Pharmacology requires a B.Sc in an allied field.

Masters Degree

To be eligible for a Masters degree:

  • You must have a first degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division from a recognized university.
  • Preference is given to candidates with a CGPA of 2.6 (on a 4-point scale) or 3.0 (on a 5-point scale).
  • A good Postgraduate Diploma may also be accepted for certain programmes.
  • Specific Programme Requirements:
  • Business Administration and Industrial Sociology & Personnel Management require O’level credits in English, Mathematics, and Economics.
  • For Masters in Surgical Pathology or Human Physiology, an M.B.B.S or its equivalent is required.
  • Applicants for M.Sc in Clinical Optometry must hold an O.D degree with a CGPA of at least 3.0 (on a 5-point scale).

MPhil/Ph.D and Ph.D Programmes

For MPhil/Ph.D and Ph.D admissions:

  • A good Master’s degree (excluding MBA) with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) or 4.0 (on a 5-point scale) is required.
  • Applicants must have 60% or higher in coursework and dissertation, evaluated by an external examiner.
  • Selection tests or interviews may be conducted for some applicants.
  • Applicants with a CGPA lower than 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) or 4.0 (on a 5-point scale) should apply for the MPhil/Ph.D programme.

  • Full-Time: Minimum of 3 semesters, maximum of 6.
  • Part-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters, maximum of 8.

  • Part-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters, maximum of 8.
  • MPhil/Ph.D:
  • Full-Time: Minimum of 6 semesters, maximum of 10.
  • Part-Time: Minimum of 8 semesters, maximum of 12.
  • Ph.D:
  • Full-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters, maximum of 10.
  • Part-Time: Minimum of 6 semesters, maximum of 14.

How to Apply for ABSU Postgraduate Admission

Follow these simple steps to apply:

  1. Make Payment:
    Pay the ₦25,000 application fee (which covers form and service charges) at any of the approved banks: ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, First Bank, Signature Bank, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Union Bank, or UBA.
    You can also use a bank debit card to make payment.
  2. Obtain the Form:
    Collect your payment receipt and visit any internet centre to complete your online application.
  3. Complete Online Registration:
    Log in to the ABSU Postgraduate Portal, fill out the form, and submit.
  4. Submit Referee Reports:
    Print the application form and three referee confidential reports. Ask your referees to complete and submit these reports.

Deadline for ABSU Postgraduate Application
