FUTMINNA Hosts Key Assessment Teams to Review New Academic Programs

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has recently welcomed assessment teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QRSBN), and the Nigerian Institute of Animal Scientists (NIAS). These expert teams are at the university to evaluate the readiness of six newly introduced academic programs, which aim to further strengthen the institution’s offerings.

Purpose of the Assessment: Ensuring Excellence in Education

The main goal of this assessment is to verify that the new courses meet both academic and industry standards, ultimately ensuring FUTMINNA maintains high educational quality. The university’s leadership believes that this process will not only improve the academic standards of the institution but also enhance the employability of its graduates.

During a courtesy visit to the Academic Publishing Centre (APC) on February 10th, 2025, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta stressed the importance of peer reviews. He emphasized that these evaluations would help FUTMINNA stay aligned with national educational standards and continually evolve to meet the needs of the industry.

Courses Under Review: Expanding Academic Horizons

The assessment teams are reviewing several programs, particularly those in the university’s School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT). The following courses are being assessed by the NUC team, consisting of 15 members:

  • B.Tech. Crop Science
  • B.Tech. Soil Science and Land Management
  • B.Tech. Agricultural Economics
  • B.Tech. Agricultural Extension

Strengthening FUTMINNA’s Commitment to Quality Education

This accreditation process is not just about meeting regulatory standards; it’s about FUTMINNA’s ongoing commitment to providing world-class education. By ensuring that these courses meet both academic and industry benchmarks, the university aims to create an educational environment where students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their careers.

The outcome of these evaluations will shape the future of these programs, helping FUTMINNA continue to be a leading institution in Nigeria. As the review progresses, students, faculty, and prospective candidates eagerly anticipate the results, which will further boost the reputation of the university.
