OSPOLY Introduces New Dress Code to Ensure Proper Student Attire

Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, has rolled out a new dress code policy aimed at promoting appropriate student dressing and curbing indecency on campus. The new regulations, approved by the institution’s Board of Studies on November 3, 2022, seek to maintain discipline and uphold the reputation of the polytechnic.

The Dress Code Policy: What You Need to Know

To ensure adherence to this policy, a monitoring committee has been set up, which will be tasked with overseeing student attire across various parts of the campus, including lecture halls, workshops, and laboratories. Faculty members will be responsible for monitoring and reporting any violations. Offenders will be subject to appropriate sanctions imposed by the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC).

What’s Forbidden?

To help students stay in line with the new policy, the following attire styles are prohibited on campus:

  • Crazy Jeans: Overly distressed or torn jeans are not permitted for both men and women.
  • Sagging Trousers: Students must wear their pants properly, avoiding the sagging look.
  • Unnatural Hair Colors: Bright hair colors, such as blue, green, or pink, are not allowed.
  • Jewelry: Men are prohibited from wearing earrings, while women are barred from wearing nose rings or ankle chains.
  • Tattoos: Visible tattoos are not allowed.
  • Casual Footwear: Bathroom slippers and bum shorts are banned.
  • Inappropriate Skirts: Skirts or dresses above the knee, spaghetti straps, or those exposing the navel or breast are not permitted.
  • Dreadlocks & Curled Hair for Men: Men are not allowed to wear dreadlocks or excessively curled hair.
  • Excessive Makeup: Long eyelashes and heavily painted faces are prohibited for women.
  • Transparent Clothing: Net dresses or see-through blouses are against the rules.
  • Undergarments Exposure: Students are expected to wear proper undergarments, and not appear without bras or underwear.

Why This Dress Code?

The policy is designed to encourage students to dress professionally and respect the learning environment. By maintaining a standard of appropriate dress, OSPOLY aims to foster a positive and focused atmosphere for both students and faculty.

Consequences for Non-Compliance

Failure to adhere to the dress code will result in disciplinary action. The institution is committed to ensuring that students comply with the guidelines to uphold the values and dignity of the institution.

Students are urged to follow these regulations carefully to avoid penalties and contribute to a better academic experience for all.

Your Takeaway: The dress code is here to stay. Embrace it for your success and the institution’s pride. Stay smart, stay respectful, stay compliant!
