The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for the Innovation and Technology Scholarship, aimed at empowering young African professionals. This fully funded scholarship allows students to pursue graduate studies in technology and innovation, equipping them with the skills needed for today’s digital economy.

Scholarship Overview

This groundbreaking initiative will support 120 African students over five years, from 2025 to 2030. Recipients will embark on a two-year, on-campus master’s degree program, focusing on essential technology and innovation skills.

Selected scholars will receive comprehensive support that covers all major costs, including:

  • English language test costs
  • Program application fees
  • Round-trip airfare to Phoenix, Arizona

Furthermore, between their first and second years, students will participate in a two-month internship in Africa, tailored to their field of study. Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to return to their home countries and apply their newfound skills for national development.

  • MS in Civil, Environmental & Sustainable Engineering

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to ethical leadership
  • Be actively engaged in community service
  • Hold an undergraduate degree by July 2025
  • Be between 18 and 33 years old by the application deadline
  • Meet the academic admission requirements, including English proficiency
  • Be able to reside in Phoenix, Arizona, during the program

Application Process

Interested candidates should complete the scholarship application to begin the process. If selected, applicants will receive support for admission to Arizona State University.

Interviews will be conducted via phone or video call in November 2024, with final decisions announced by January 2025. Successful applicants will commence their studies in August 2025 in Phoenix.
