KIU 2025/2026 Academic Calendar Adjusted: Break, First Semester Exams, Resumption Dates Announced
In a significant update for students and staff, the management of Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), formerly known as Borno State University (BOSU), has officially revised key dates in its 2025/2026 academic calendar.
The adjustment affects the semester break, First Semester examinations, and the resumption date for the Second Semester — changes that every student must take seriously to avoid unnecessary academic pressure.
What Has Changed? Full Breakdown of KIU’s New Schedule
According to an official memo signed by Mrs. Aishatu Ali Chiroma, Acting Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the Registrar, the revised dates have received executive approval from the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate.
Here are the confirmed adjustments:
Semester Break
- Friday, 6 March 2026 – Sunday, 22 March 2026
Students will proceed on break for just over two weeks before returning for examinations.
First Semester Examination Dates
Under the updated academic plan:
- Start: Monday, 23 March 2026
- End: Friday, 17 April 2026
Notably, examinations will begin immediately after the break. Students are strongly advised to use the break period wisely for revision and preparation.
Second Semester Resumption
- Monday, 20 April 2026
The Second Semester will resume just three days after the completion of First Semester exams, giving students a short transition window.
Why This Update Matters
Calendar adjustments can significantly impact:
- Travel plans
- Study schedules
- Academic deadlines
- Administrative processing
With examinations starting right after the break, missing these new dates could lead to avoidable stress or missed assessments.
The university management has emphasized that all staff and students must strictly adhere to the revised schedule.
