Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Announces Amnesty Programme for Students Affected Between 2002 and 2020

In a major relief move for thousands of former and returning students, the Management of Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto State, has approved an Amnesty Programme for candidates who were unable to graduate due to academic challenges spanning nearly two decades.

The initiative targets students affected from the 2002/2003 academic session up to the 2019/2020 session, offering them a fresh opportunity to resolve outstanding issues, complete their programmes, and finally graduate.

A Second Chance to Graduate

According to the polytechnic’s management, the amnesty programme is designed to help students who, for various reasons, could not meet graduation requirements during the affected academic years.

Under the new arrangement, eligible candidates will be allowed to:

  • Clear pending academic deficiencies
  • Regularise unresolved course or programme issues
  • Complete all graduation requirements
  • Proceed to graduation after fulfilling approved conditions

The institution described the programme as part of its commitment to academic inclusion and student support.

Who Is Eligible?

The Amnesty Programme specifically applies to students who fall within the following academic sessions:

  • 2002/2003 academic session
  • Up to the 2019/2020 academic session

It is strictly meant for students who encountered challenges that prevented them from graduating during this period.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified candidates are required to apply in person. The polytechnic has directed applicants to visit:

The Office of the Amnesty Programme Coordinator
Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto State

At the office, candidates will receive:

  • Full details of the amnesty process
  • Guidelines on eligibility and requirements
  • The official application form

The management emphasized that this office is the only approved point of contact for the programme.

Call for Public Awareness

The institution has also appealed to staff, students, alumni, and members of the public to share the information widely, especially to reach affected candidates who may no longer be actively connected to the school.

Why This Matters

For many former students, this amnesty programme represents a long-awaited opportunity to close unfinished academic chapters and obtain qualifications that can improve their career prospects.
