Edo State University Iyamho Begins Search for New Registrar and Bursar
Edo State University Iyamho (EDSU), Edo State, Nigeria, has officially opened applications for two top management positions—Registrar and Bursar—following the declaration of vacancies in both offices.
The recruitment exercise, approved by the University’s Governing Council, is being conducted under Section 6(1), (2), and (3) of the Edo State University Iyamho Law, 2014 (as amended). Qualified and experienced professionals are encouraged to apply.

Vacancy 1: Registrar
Role Summary
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and reports to the Vice-Chancellor. The office oversees the daily administration of the University (excluding financial matters) and serves as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, and Convocation.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A good honours degree (minimum Second Class Lower) from a recognised university
- At least 15 years post-qualification experience
- Higher degrees, professional qualifications, and membership of professional bodies are added advantages
Candidates must also:
- Not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar, with at least three (3) years on that rank
- Not be more than 60 years old at the time of assumption
- Demonstrate strong leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Show clear mentorship ability and integrity
- Be computer-literate and knowledgeable in modern administrative practices
- Be in excellent physical and mental health
Tenure and Conditions
The Registrar will serve a single term of five (5) years. Salary and conditions align with what applies to Registrars in public universities in Nigeria, as approved by the Edo State Government and/or the Governing Council.
Vacancy 2: Bursar
Role Summary
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and is responsible for the daily administration and control of University finances, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor.
Key Responsibilities
These include:
- Advising the Vice-Chancellor on financial matters
- Coordinating financial management plans
- Preparing income and expenditure statements, balance sheets, and cash flow estimates
- Maintaining accurate records of assets and liabilities
- Monitoring budgets, treasury activities, and financial forecasts
- Negotiating with financial and government institutions
- Supervising the Bursary Department for effective financial management
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A good honours degree (minimum Second Class Lower) in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
- At least 15 years post-qualification experience in a university
- Membership of ICAN or ANAN
- A recognised professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent
- Fellowship status is an added advantage
Candidates must also:
- Not be below the rank of Deputy Bursar, with at least three (3) years on that rank
- Be proficient in accounting software and ICT
- Not be older than 60 years at the time of appointment
- Demonstrate integrity, transparency, leadership, and strategic financial vision
- Be computer-literate and in excellent physical and mental health
Tenure and Conditions
The Bursar will also serve a single term of five (5) years, under conditions applicable to Bursars in public universities in Nigeria.
