AKUM Urges UTME (160+) and Direct Entry Applicants to Check Admission Status, Update JAMB CAPS and Upload O’Level Results

Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna (AKUM) has issued an urgent notice to all UTME candidates who scored 160 and above and Direct Entry (DE) applicants, asking them to immediately check their admission status and resolve any pending issues blocking the release of their admission letters.

In the announcement, the university made it clear that some candidates have checked their status but are yet to see their admission letters. AKUM explained that this is usually due to incomplete actions on JAMB CAPS or missing academic records, and it outlined clear steps every affected candidate must follow.

Who the AKUM Notice Covers

The announcement applies to:

  • UTME candidates with scores of 160 and above
  • Direct Entry (DE) applicants
  • Candidates who have checked their status but do not yet have an admission letter

If you fall into any of these groups, AKUM says you must act now.

What To Do If Your Admission Letter Is Not Yet Available

AKUM highlighted several common reasons why admission letters may not appear and provided solutions for each.

1. Log in to JAMB CAPS for Programme Transfer or Change of Course

Candidates are advised to log in to JAMB CAPS and check if they are required to accept a programme transfer or a change of course.
If such an option appears, it must be accepted before admission can be finalised.

2. Upload Your O’Level Results on JAMB CAPS

All candidates must ensure their WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results are uploaded and verified on JAMB CAPS.

AKUM stressed that:

Admission cannot be completed without verified O’Level results.

If your results are missing or not verified on CAPS, your admission will remain pending.

3. Visit the AKUM Admissions Office

Candidates who have completed the online steps but still have issues are instructed to visit the University Admissions Office.
This allows officials to check your records, confirm your status, and resolve any outstanding problems.

Where to Keep Checking Your Admission Status

AKUM also directed candidates to keep monitoring their status on the  AKUM student portal.

Candidates are expected to move between:

  • JAMB CAPS (for acceptance, transfers, and result uploads), and
  • The AKUM student portal (for university admission updates),

and then follow up at the Admissions Office where necessary.

Final Reminder to Applicants

AKUM urged all UTME 160+ and Direct Entry candidates who are still waiting for their admission letters to comply fully with these instructions without delay.

For many candidates, a simple action — such as accepting a transfer on CAPS or uploading O’Level results — may be the final step standing between them and their official admission.

If your admission is still pending, AKUM says now is the time to act.
