FULAFIA Reopens Course Registration Portal for Selected 2024/2025 Students — SiWES, Teaching Practice Affected

In a move aimed at preventing academic setbacks for hundreds of students, the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has approved a special extension of its 2024/2025 course registration, allowing only a specific category of students to complete their pending registrations.

The decision, formally approved by the Vice-Chancellor, was announced through an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Dr. Nuradeen Abdul.

Who is eligible for the extension?

According to the memo, the extension strictly applies to two groups of students:

1. Exam-writing students without course registration
Students who:

  • Have paid their school fees,
  • Sat for first or second semester examinations,
  • But failed to complete their course registration.

2. SiWES and Teaching Practice students
Students who:

  • Are on SiWES (Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme) or Teaching Practice for the 2024/2025 session,
  • Have paid their fees,
  • But have not completed course registration.

This is not a general reopening. Only students in the listed categories will be granted access.

Portal reopening dates

The Directorate of Management Information Systems (MIS) has been directed to reopen the course registration portal exclusively for eligible students.

Registration Window:
Thursday, 9 January 2026 – Friday, 16 January 2026

Students who qualify must complete their registration within this period. No additional window has been announced.

Why FULAFIA reopened the portal

The memo, addressed to the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, explained that the move is necessary to ensure the timely processing of students’ academic results. Without course registration, results cannot be properly computed or released, even if examinations were written.

The university therefore urged all affected students to take immediate action before the deadline expires.
