UNIZIK Reopens 2025/2026 Course Registration Portal: Full Timeline, Late Penalty Window, and Exam Date Revealed

In a crucial update for thousands of undergraduates, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has officially reopened its course registration portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving students a fresh two-week opportunity to complete their registration before penalties begin.

The announcement was made in an internal memorandum from the Office of the Registrar dated January 12, 2026, and approved by the Vice-Chancellor, confirming the university’s commitment to closing all outstanding registration gaps before the first semester examinations.

UNIZIK 2025/2026 Course Registration Timeline

According to the university’s memo, the registration process will follow this strict schedule:

ActivityDate
Main registration window opensMonday, 12 January 2026
Main registration closesSunday, 25 January 2026
Late registration (with penalty)Monday, 26 January – Thursday, 12 February 2026

First semester examinations beginMonday, 2 March 2026

Once the portal closes on Friday, 13 February 2026, no further first-semester course registration will be allowed.

Why UNIZIK Reopened the Portal

The university explained that the decision was taken to enable proper academic and examination planning.

Registration data is used to:

  • Finalize class lists
  • Prepare examination timetables
  • Allocate invigilators
  • Print answer booklets and result sheets

With first semester exams scheduled to start on March 2, 2026, UNIZIK needs all student records to be fully updated and verified.

Late Registration Comes with a Price

Students who fail to register between January 12 and January 25 will still have another chance, but with consequences.

From January 26 to February 12, 2026, the portal remains open under a late registration penalty regime. UNIZIK did not specify the amount in the memo, but such penalties usually involve additional fees or administrative sanctions.

What UNIZIK Is Telling Students

The university is urging all affected students to:

  • Log in immediately
  • Complete course registration
  • Avoid late penalties
  • Stay eligible for the first semester examinations

Failure to register before February 13, 2026, means a student may not be allowed to sit for the first semester exams.

Bottom Line

UNIZIK has thrown open its digital doors one last time for the 2025/2026 academic session. This two-week window could be the difference between writing exams in March — or sitting them out.

Students are advised to act now.
