The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially announced the commencement of admissions into its Sandwich Degree Programme under the Faculty of Education for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

Courses Available for UNIPORT Sandwich Applicants

- Educational Foundations and Arts
- Educational Management, Social Studies and Business Education
- Curriculum Studies, Science Education and Educational Technology
- Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling
- Sport and Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Environmental & Safety Education
- Adult and Non-Formal Education
- Library Science and Information Technology
- Early Childhood and Primary Education
Notably, Post-SSC entrants remain fully eligible for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) upon graduation.
Admission Requirements
UNIPORT outlines a multi-entry system to accommodate applicants with varied educational backgrounds:
1. O’Level Requirements
Applicants must have five (5) credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, SSCE or GCE, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Three relevant subjects related to the applicant’s intended teaching field.
2. University Certificate Holders
Candidates with a credit in the UNIPORT Certificate Programme—or equivalent certificates from recognized institutions—are eligible.
3. HND or First Degree Holders
Eligible for a two-year route, provided they complete:
- All compulsory education courses
- General Studies (GES) courses
- Teaching practice exercises in Years 1 and 2
4. OND Holders
Admitted into a three-year route, with completion of:
- Compulsory education courses
- GES courses
- Teaching practice in Years 1 and 2
5. NCE Holders (Merit Pass)
Admitted through the Post-NCE route.

Prospective candidates are required to obtain the admission form directly from the School of Sandwich Programmes, located at Choba Campus, University of Port Harcourt.
