2024 Commonwealth Scholarships: Interview Invitation and Requirements for Nigerian Candidates

The Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) has officially announced the interview schedule for eligible Nigerian candidates applying for the prestigious 2024 session. The process is overseen by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, and will take place in Abuja, Nigeria.

Interview Schedule: Key Dates & Times

The interviews will be held at Ekiti House (Former RoseBud Hotel), located opposite the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, 25 November 2024

  • Opening Ceremony: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
  • Event: Opening speech by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education
  • Participants: Candidates, panelists, and staff
  • Accreditation and Interview for South West & North West Candidates: 12:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Tuesday, 26 November 2024

  • Accreditation and Interview for North Central & South-South Candidates: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Wednesday, 27 November 2024

  • Accreditation and Interview for North East & South East Candidates: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Thursday, 28 November 2024

  • Collation of Scores and Final Report Submission: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Participants: Panelists, retired directors, and Federal Scholarship Board staff

Essential Documents for Interview

Candidates must bring the following documents to the interview:

  • Printed copy of the EAS form
  • Original and photocopies of all academic credentials
  • At least two referee reports
  • Supporting statement from a UK-based supervisor (for PhD applicants only)
  • Original academic transcripts
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (with photocopy)
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Proof of any awards, academic publications, or sample works
  • For Master’s applicants: A First Degree with at least a Second Class Upper
  • For PhD applicants: A relevant Master’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower
  • Admission letter from a UK university listed on the Commonwealth website

Note: Candidates without the required documents will not be accredited or interviewed.

Important Notes for Candidates

  • Accreditation is mandatory before the interview.
  • Attendance is compulsory on the scheduled date for your region.
  • Foreign-language documents must have an official English translation.
  • Monitor the status of referee responses on the online application portal to ensure timely submission.
  • Only candidates who selected the Federal Scholarship Board as their nominating agency are eligible for the interview.
