Correct Answer
C
Explanation
Example of a bryophyte is the moss plant usually found in humid area The moss plant consists of two parts. The first part is the gametophyte generation which alternates with the 2nd part the sporophyte generation. The gametophyte generation which is the main plant consists of root-like structures called rhizoid stem-like structure (seta) and leaf-like structure. The leaf-like structures contains both the male and female reproductive o r g a n s called :antheridium and archegonium respectively. The antheridium bears male gamete called anthropoid while archegonium bears female gamete called egg or ovum. The anthropoid fuses with the egg to form a zygote that develops into the second part of the moss plant called sporophyte generation. The sporophyte generation develops sporangium or capsule at the tip. This sporangium is an asexual reproductive organ which ripes and bursts to set spores free. Each spore germinates to produce a green structure with rhizoids called protonema. Protonema later develops young male and female gametophyte generations and the cycle continues.
