Sucking mouth part consists of a long hollow tube called proboscis formed from a pair of maxillae. The mandibles are reduced because they are not needed: sucking mouth part is seen in butterfly. Mosquito has piercing and sucking mouth parts. The mouth parts consists of five Iong blade like stylets for piercing. Four of them are formed from a pair of mandibles and pair of maxillae. One pair is formed from the hypopharynx. The sucking tube is formed from the labrum and epipharynx used for sucking blood.
