Baptism is a sacrament which marks the transition from the old life of sins to the life of holiness. Paul teaches that those who are baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death. they were buried with Jesus in baptism, so that as he was raised from death, they can walk in newness of life. This means that those who are dead to sin should no longer continue in sin. A baptised person is expected to avoid all the negative tendencies which are the characteristics of the old life of fornication, impurity, passion, evil desires and a baptised person is expected to put on the new life in Jesus which is holiness, love, •compassion, kindness etc. Romans 6:1-14
