Explanation

Liver wort is a bryophyte. Bryophtes have well defined alternation of generation in which the spore-bearing part or plant called sporophyte generation alternates with gamete bearing portion or plan called the gametophyte generationIn liver worth the dominant generation is the gametophyte which is ribbon like and bears rhizoids with which it absorbs water and mifieral salts. It -carries out photosynthesis. The gametophyte generation bears male and female reproductive organs called antheridium and archegonium respectively producing anthropoids and ovum. When these gametes fuse zygote is produced which develops into the sporophyte generation. The sporophyte is always found attached and dependent on the gametophyte generation and it produces spores. Vegetative propagation occurs in flowering plants in which any part of the plant (stems, leaves or roots) issued to raise new plant.
