A Comparative anatomy is the study ofsimilarities and differences in structures-of different organisms.Ferns have well developed structures or true structuressuch as leaves, stems and roots, but mosses have structures that resembleleaves, stems and roots. These structures are not true structures e.g. rhizoidsand seta. Also, fems have vascular tissues which mosses lack. These structuresmake ferns more advanced than mosses. Physiological record shows that there are many similaritiesin the physiology of organisms, that is, the functions and activities of theorganisms. For instance DNA is common to all organisms and they all storeenergy in form of ATP. Biochemical similarities indicate that all organisms aremade up of the same types of complex molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteinsand nucleic acids. They also store energy as ATP.
