But a Samaritan on a journey, saw the man and had compassion on him he round up his wounds, set him upon his beast took him to an inn, and took proper care of him. The following day, the Samaritan paid the inn keeper two denarii, promising to pay any extra expenses incurred by the inn keeper in taking care of the man. Jesus then asked the lawyer to tell which of the three had proved a neighbor to the man who fell among robbers. The lawyer replied The one who showed mercy "Jesus discharged him by telling him to go and do likewise. John 2:1-11
