Estuarine habitat or estuary is divided into three zones namely zone of fresh water, the brackish water and zone of marine water. The brackish water is an intermediate water where the fresh water flowing from the river mixes with marine water from the sea. The brackish water is the main estuarine water. The salinity undergoes constant changes or fluctuation e.g it is high during high tide when more of marine water flows into the brackish water and low during low tide when less of marine water flows into it and tide occurs twice a day. It is also affected by dry and rainy season.
