is Erythrocytes Option B - thrombocytes or blood platelets are minute disc shaped cell fragments in mammalian blood. They are made in the red bone marrow of long bones. They produce enzyme called thromboplastin or thrombokinass which initiates blood clotting in open wound. The thromboplastin in the presence ofcalcium ions, vitamin K converts soluble plasma protein calle: prothrombin toan enzyme called thrombin. This enzyme converts anothe' soluble plasma proteincalled fibrin into an insoluble threads called fibrins The fibrins cluster atthe surface of the wound to prevent red blood cells from coming out. Thus a clotis formed. Leucocytes are white blood cells. They consist of phagocytes lymphocytes. Phagocytes or granulocytes are white blood cells that amoeboid and therefore capable of engulfing and digesting foreign bodies such as bacteria in our body. Lymphocytes or non-granulocytes are white blood cells that secrete antibodies which kill bacteria and other germs that enter our body as well as neutralizing their toxins.
