Insects do not. drink water. They depend on the littlewater contained in the food they eat. The excretory organ of insects is themalpighian tubules located at the junction between the mid gut and hi Hgut (digestive system). These tifbules collect metabolic /astes mainly water,salts and uric acid from the body coelom (body cavity and empty them into thedigestive system (hint gut). Water and salts are reabsorbed. Solid crystals ofthe uric acid is removed through the anus. Mucilage isproduced mainiy by algae and okro. Alkaloids such as quinine, nicotine,morphine and others like tannins, resins, guns etc. are excretory products of plants.
