The respiratory system in mammals begins with the nose which leads into the pharynx. This in turn leads into larynx. (voice box) and the gullet. the larynx which is short and made up of cartilage opens into the trachea. The trachea branches into the left and right bronchi that enter the left and right lungs respectively. Each bronchus branches repeatedly in the lung to form smaller bronchioles that terminate in the finest air sacs called alveoli.
