A biome is a large regional ecological community of plants a nd animals. Savanna is a large regional ecological community in which grasses are dominant with few scattered trees and shrubs. Grasses are annual plants which dry up during the dry season and are burnt every yes to stimulate early growth of grasses for herbivores especially goat, sheer and cattle which are reared in the savanna. Tropical Rain forest is also a large regional ecological community in which trees are dominant and they occur in layers or strata. Desert is a large regional ecological community in which plants and animals are very scanty because the area is extremely hot during the day and extremely cold at night. Montane forest is equally a large regional ecological community of plants and animals found in mountainous area like Jos Plateau.
