Explanation

The middle portion of a sperm cell has a lot of mitochondria containing respiratory enzymes that generate a lot of energy. The energy powers the sperm to swim to the oviduct. This act of swimming of sperm to the oviduct is labourous and therefore requires a lot of energy. The egg cell is released by the ovary which is close to the fallopian funnel and it enters the fallopian tube as a result of the beating of cilia lining the funnel. Thus it requires little energy for it's movement.
