Mosquito, housefly and blackfly are pests not parasites. The micro organisms they transmit to man are parasites - (malaria parasite or Plasmodium; bacteria, virus and filarial Worm or onchocerca respectively. The immature stage of housefly i.e. maggot does not stay in water. Adults of these insects bear a pair of membranous wings and a pair of tiny wings like stumps called halteres.
