The Federal Government has officially commenced disbursement of the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF)<\/strong> through the Federal Ministry of Education<\/strong>, marking a major milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in August 2025<\/strong>, the TISSF aims to enhance staff welfare, boost morale, and improve productivity across Nigeria\u2019s tertiary education system. The initiative follows a stakeholder engagement session held in July 2025<\/strong> and has now entered full operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Ministry, more than 9,000 verified staff members<\/strong> have already received payments in the first year \u2014 representing 28 percent<\/strong> of the 33,000 approved applicants<\/strong> drawn from 219 federal and state tertiary institutions<\/strong> across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fair Distribution Between Academic and Non-Academic Staff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the first phase of disbursement, beneficiaries were selected using a 30:70 ratio<\/strong> between academic<\/strong> and non-academic<\/strong> staff. This approach reflects the Ministry\u2019s commitment to equity, ensuring that both categories of workers benefit fairly from the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Education<\/strong>, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (FAMedS), CON<\/strong>, commended President Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to staff welfare, describing the TISSF as a timely intervention that demonstrates the government\u2019s genuine concern for education workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that payments began only four months after the Fund\u2019s approval<\/strong>, signaling the administration\u2019s efficiency and focus on tangible results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TISSF operates under the broader Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI)<\/strong>, a comprehensive policy framework aimed at uplifting the welfare, morale, and performance of education workers nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this framework, the government seeks to promote high standards of teaching, research, and innovation<\/strong>, while ensuring that tertiary institutions remain globally competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
