{"id":9494,"date":"2025-11-03T15:29:56","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T15:29:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/?p=9494"},"modified":"2025-11-03T15:29:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T15:29:57","slug":"presidential-committee-launches-%e2%82%a610m-tax-reform-challenge-for-nigerian-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/presidential-committee-launches-%e2%82%a610m-tax-reform-challenge-for-nigerian-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidential Committee Launches \u20a610m Tax Reform Challenge for Nigerian Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an effort to empower young Nigerians and promote fiscal literacy, the <strong>Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee<\/strong> has announced the <strong>Tax Reform Challenge<\/strong> \u2014 a nationwide competition inviting undergraduates and recent graduates to share their insights, creativity, and understanding of Nigeria\u2019s evolving tax laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative aims to spark informed discussions on <strong>fiscal responsibility<\/strong>, <strong>public accountability<\/strong>, and the role of taxation in national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purpose of the Challenge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tax Reform Challenge seeks to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Raise awareness and deepen understanding of tax policies among Nigerian youth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage factual, open analysis of taxation and fiscal reforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build a community of student ambassadors driving positive engagement on tax matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emphasize that taxation is a shared civic duty between citizens and government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition is open to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Undergraduates<\/strong> in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Graduates<\/strong> currently serving or awaiting NYSC mobilization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants may apply individually or through recognized student groups such as <strong>tax clubs, student associations in economics, accounting, or journalism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entry Guidelines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries can be submitted in <strong>English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba<\/strong>, and must include <strong>English translations<\/strong> for local-language works. Accepted formats include <strong>articles, videos, podcasts, radio shows, or social media content<\/strong>, all centered on Nigeria\u2019s tax reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Video or audio submissions must not exceed <strong>10 minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All entries must be <strong>factual, engaging, and educational<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Constructive criticism of the reforms is encouraged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Submission window:<\/strong> <strong>July 1 \u2013 December 31, 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evaluation Criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions will be judged based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Objectivity and Balance<\/strong> \u2013 Fair and accurate insights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Technical Accuracy<\/strong> \u2013 Correct interpretation of tax laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Engagement<\/strong> \u2013 Creativity and clarity that resonate with audiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impact and Reach<\/strong> \u2013 Measured through engagement metrics like views and shares.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competition Format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stage 1 \u2013 Screening:<\/strong><br>All applicants will take an <strong>online test<\/strong> on key tax reform concepts. The <strong>top two performers (male and female)<\/strong> from each institution will advance to the next round. Their submissions will also undergo review for accuracy and quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stage 2 \u2013 Zonal Competitions:<\/strong><br>Regional contests will be held where participants present before panels of <strong>academics, journalists, tax officials, and committee members<\/strong>.
