Abubakar Fulata (APC\u2013Jigawa)<\/strong>, Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, after deliberating on four education-related bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Details of the Newly Approved Universities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The House passed the following bills to formalize the creation and conversion of existing institutions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Federal University of Technology, Kaduna<\/strong> \u2013 This replaces the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, with a focus on applied science, innovation, and technology-driven education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Federal University, Biu, Borno State<\/strong> \u2013 This institution replaces the Nigerian Army University, Biu (Act 2020), transforming it into a federal university for broader academic access.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State<\/strong> \u2013 Formerly a college of education, this upgrade will deepen teacher education and professional training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano State<\/strong> \u2013 A new university designed to advance teacher preparation and educational research in the northern region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Rep. Fulata<\/strong>, the goal is to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, particularly in science, technology, and education. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with Nigeria\u2019s long-term goal of improving the quality of tertiary education and bridging educational gaps across regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Happens Next<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the adoption of the committee\u2019s report, the House directed that all four bills be <strong>transmitted to the Senate for concurrence<\/strong>.
