He warned principals and administrators against demanding unauthorised fees from parents, noting that violators will be sanctioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the Free Education Covers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government\u2019s free education package is extensive. Parents are not expected to pay for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Boarding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uniforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Textbooks and exercise books<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stationery, ID cards, and prospectus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clubs and societies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vocational needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utilities and security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website and e-result services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skool Media<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extra lessons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the minister, parents \u201care not to pay a kobo for these items.\u201d Circulars are already being distributed to all schools to reinforce this directive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minister\u2019s Warning to Schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Alausa cautioned that any attempt by school authorities to impose extra charges is illegal. For <strong>new entrants (TVET 1 students)<\/strong>, the required list includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Religious wear (Sunday or Jumat dress with scarf\/hijab)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bedding (blanket, cover cloth, towel, pillow, mattress with mackintosh)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Footwear (slippers, rubber shoes, rain boots or raincoat \u2013 optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergarments, socks, mosquito net, sanitary towels (for girls)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, comb, detergent, disinfectant)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Torchlight with batteries, water bottle, 10-litre keg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cutlery set, cup, plate, and bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Padlock and school shoes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One ream of A4 paper (80 grams) for registration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the list may appear long, it mostly consists of everyday personal items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Bigger Picture: Building Skills for the Future<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This free education policy is part of <strong>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda<\/strong>, which prioritises <strong>Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)<\/strong> as a driver of national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By equipping young Nigerians with practical skills, the government hopes to create a more self-reliant workforce capable of boosting the economy.
