In line with this, the university is inviting applications from qualified candidates both within and outside the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Federal University Gashua<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in <strong>2013<\/strong>, FUGASHUA is located in <strong>Gashua, Bade Local Government Area, Yobe State<\/strong>. The university was founded to expand access to higher education in Nigeria and has since grown to include <strong>five faculties and 36 undergraduate programmes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also boasts a <strong>School of Postgraduate Studies<\/strong> and three notable research centres:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Centre for Irrigation and Desertification Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Gum Arabic Research Centre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Centre for Excellence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the institution has positioned itself as a hub for academic growth and research development in northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Role of the Vice-Chancellor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice-Chancellor is the <strong>Chief Executive and Academic Officer<\/strong> of the university, leading both the <strong>Senate<\/strong> and the <strong>Council<\/strong>. The officeholder oversees policy-making, academic discipline, administration, and represents the Chancellor in awarding degrees, diplomas, and certificates when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The position requires <strong>leadership, academic credibility, administrative skills, and sound judgment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for the role, candidates must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Be a <strong>professor<\/strong> with at least <strong>10 years\u2019 experience<\/strong> (as of February 2026).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have <strong>15 years of continuous service<\/strong> in a public university.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Held significant leadership roles such as <strong>Dean, Provost, Head of Department, or Deputy Vice-Chancellor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide evidence of <strong>academic publications and research impact<\/strong>, including minimum h-index scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit a <strong>vision statement (max 1,000 words)<\/strong> outlining their 5-year plan for the university.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be <strong>below 65 years old<\/strong> at the time of appointment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate <strong>integrity, financial prudence, strong communication skills, and good health<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show ability to <strong>attract grants, foster partnerships, and enhance staff and student welfare<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tenure and Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice-Chancellor will serve a <strong>single, non-renewable five-year term<\/strong>. Salary and benefits are as approved by the <strong>Federal Government of Nigeria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested candidates must submit <strong>30 copies<\/strong> of their signed and dated application with a <strong>Curriculum Vitae (CV)<\/strong> and photocopies of academic credentials. The CV should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Personal details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Qualifications and academic records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publications and research works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administrative experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honours and recognitions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A clear <strong>vision statement<\/strong> for the university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must be clearly marked <strong>\u201cApplication for the Post of Vice-Chancellor\u201d<\/strong> and sent in sealed envelopes to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Registrar and Secretary to Council,<br>Federal University Gashua,<br>P.M.B. 1005, Gashua, Yobe State.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline is <strong>six weeks from the date of publication<\/strong>.
