The university has officially announced a restructuring of some of its academic programmes, including the popular <em>Mass Communication<\/em>, <em>Estate Management<\/em>, and <em>Agriculture<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a circular signed by the Registrar, <strong>Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II<\/strong>, on <strong>Wednesday, August 20, 2025<\/strong>, these changes directly affect candidates who applied for admission into the 2025\/2026 academic session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mass Communication Now Split into Three Degrees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What was once a single course, <em>Mass Communication<\/em>, has now been divided into <strong>three distinct degree programmes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Broadcasting<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Journalism and Media Studies<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Relations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that candidates who chose <em>Mass Communication<\/em> in the 2025 UTME or Direct Entry must <strong>update their choice on the JAMB portal<\/strong> to any of the three new options. Failure to do so will make them ineligible for the upcoming Post-UTME screening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Courses Affected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The shake-up doesn\u2019t end with Mass Communication. Two other fields have also been restructured:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Estate Management<\/strong> \u2013 No longer available. Candidates must switch to <strong>Urban and Regional Planning<\/strong>, which is the closest alternative offered by NSUK.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Agriculture<\/strong> \u2013 Discontinued as a stand-alone course. Applicants must now select one of the following specializations:\n<ul>\n<li>Animal Science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agronomy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agricultural Economics and Extension<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fisheries and Aquaculture Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forestry, Wildlife and Ecotourism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Home Science and Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why These Changes Are Important<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The restructuring is more than just a name change\u2014it is a compulsory adjustment. Students who fail to update their course selection will be <strong>barred from the Post-UTME screening exercise<\/strong>, which is a mandatory step in the admission process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for making these corrections remains <strong>Friday, August 29, 2025<\/strong>.
