By <strong>February 10, 2026<\/strong>, the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s seat at the <strong>Federal University Dutse (FUD)<\/strong> will officially be vacant, and the Governing Council has opened the search for a new leader to steer the institution into its next phase of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in <strong>2011<\/strong> as one of Nigeria\u2019s nine newly established federal universities, FUD has grown into an academic hub with <strong>eleven faculties<\/strong>, a <strong>College of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences<\/strong>, a <strong>School of Postgraduate Studies<\/strong>, and over <strong>20,000 students<\/strong>. Today, it stands as one of Jigawa State\u2019s biggest intellectual communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why This Role Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Vice-Chancellor<\/strong> is more than just a figurehead. As the <strong>chief academic and administrative officer<\/strong>, the VC is responsible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Upholding academic excellence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing financial and human resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining peace, discipline, and fairness on campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the university locally and globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serving as Chair of the Senate and member of the Governing Council.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the person who sets the pace for the university\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Apply?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Governing Council is looking for a seasoned academic with proven leadership qualities. Applicants must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Be a recognized scholar with a <strong>PhD<\/strong> and at least <strong>five years as a Professor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have <strong>15 years of experience<\/strong> in university-level teaching, research, and administration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate ability to attract <strong>research grants and funding<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show evidence of strong <strong>interpersonal and community relations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be ICT-proficient and an excellent communicator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possess <strong>integrity, sound judgment, and good health<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be <strong>under 65 years old<\/strong> at the time of assumption of duty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terms of Appointment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tenure:<\/strong> A single, non-renewable term of <strong>five years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conditions of Service:<\/strong> Same as those applicable to Vice-Chancellors in Nigerian federal universities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested candidates should submit <strong>25 copies<\/strong> of their application and curriculum vitae (CV) including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Personal details (name, date of birth, contact information).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marital status and family information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educational qualifications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Career history in teaching, research, and service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community service contributions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publications, honors, and awards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vision and mission statement for FUD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Names and contact details of <strong>three referees<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission Details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications should be placed in a sealed envelope marked:<br><strong>\u201cPost of Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Dutse\u201d<\/strong> and addressed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Registrar,<\/strong><br>Federal University Dutse,<br>Ibrahim Aliyu Bypass, P.M.B. 7156,<br>Dutse, Jigawa State.<br>Email: <strong>registrar@fud.edu.ng<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referees must send their reports directly to the Registrar under confidential cover with the label:<br><strong>\u201cConfidential Referee Report.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The application window will remain open for <strong>six weeks from the date of this announcement<\/strong>.
