The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has announced a one-year extension for two of the university’s top officials: the Bursar, Dr. Daniel Anjola Wilson, and the University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Olaide Iyoro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This decision was made during the Council’s 6th Extraordinary Meeting and aims to ensure continuity and stability within the university\u2019s financial and academic operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tenure extensions align with Section 5, Subsection 5 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act, 2012, which allows university councils to extend the terms of certain key officials to support long-term goals and institutional stability. These strategic decisions are seen as vital for maintaining steady progress at FULafia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The extension of Dr. Wilson\u2019s tenure as Bursar was motivated by his critical role in driving financial and administrative operations at FULafia. The university has been undergoing significant changes, including automation and digitisation of its financial systems, and the Council believes that his continued leadership will help ensure these projects reach their full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the university’s Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Dr. Wilson has demonstrated exceptional leadership in strengthening FULafia\u2019s financial administration and ensuring fiscal responsibility. With the new extension, Dr. Wilson\u2019s term will now end on May 4, 2026, a year later than the original end date of May 5, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Iyoro\u2019s extended tenure as University Librarian reflects his leadership in enhancing FULafia\u2019s academic resources. Under his stewardship, significant progress has been made, including the completion of an e-resource library for various faculties and the achievement of full accreditation for 98% of the university’s programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governing Council also highlighted Professor Iyoro\u2019s mentorship of the incoming librarian, ensuring a smooth leadership transition in the future. His term will now conclude on July 1, 2026, instead of the original end date of July 2, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
