The announcement was made on Wednesday by NECO\u2019s Registrar and Chief Executive, <strong>Prof. Dantani Ibrahim-Wushishi<\/strong>, at the council\u2019s headquarters in Minna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exam Timeline and Result Release<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2025 SSCE External examination was conducted from <strong>26 November to 13 December 2025<\/strong>, with marking completed between <strong>5 January and 21 January 2026<\/strong>. NECO released the results <strong>52 days after the final paper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Candidates\u2019 Registration and Attendance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of <strong>96,979 candidates<\/strong> registered for the exam, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>51,823 males (53.43%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>45,156 females (46.57%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Of these, <strong>95,160 candidates<\/strong> sat for the exam:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>50,785 males (53.36%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>44,375 females (46.63%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Performance in English and Mathematics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>English Language:<\/strong> 93,425 candidates sat; <strong>73,167 (78.32%)<\/strong> earned credit and above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mathematics:<\/strong> 93,330 candidates sat; <strong>85,256 (91.35%)<\/strong> earned credit and above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Five-Credit Results Breakdown<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NECO highlighted two key outcomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>68,166 candidates (71.63%)<\/strong> scored <strong>five credits including English and Maths<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>82,082 candidates (86.26%)<\/strong> scored <strong>five credits or more without the English-and-Maths requirement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purpose of the SSCE External Exam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Ibrahim-Wushishi explained that the SSCE External exam provides candidates another opportunity for <strong>university and tertiary school admissions<\/strong>, both in Nigeria and abroad. The exam covered <strong>16 subjects<\/strong> and the result release marks a <strong>milestone in NECO\u2019s commitment to credible assessments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Malpractice Cases and Sanctions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NECO reported <strong>9,016 candidates<\/strong> involved in examination offences, a <strong>31.7% increase<\/strong> from 6,160 cases in 2024.
