The marking exercise followed shortly after, running from <strong>5 January to 21 January 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Ibrahim-Wushishi disclosed that the results were released <strong>52 days after the last written paper<\/strong>, underscoring NECO\u2019s commitment to timely result processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Number of Candidates Who Registered and Sat for the Exam<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NECO recorded a total of <strong>96,979 registrations<\/strong> for the 2025 SSCE External examination, broken down as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>51,823 males (53.43%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>45,156 females (46.56%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the registered candidates, <strong>95,160 candidates actually sat for the examination<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>50,785 males (53.36%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>44,375 females (46.63%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>English Language and Mathematics Performance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Performance in the two core subjects\u2014<strong>English Language and Mathematics<\/strong>\u2014showed strong outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>English Language:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates who sat: <strong>93,425<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates with credit and above: <strong>73,167 (78.32%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mathematics:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates who sat: <strong>93,330<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates with credit and above: <strong>85,256 (91.35%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Five-Credit Results Breakdown<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NECO highlighted two major achievement benchmarks from the results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>68,166 candidates (71.63%)<\/strong> obtained <strong>five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>82,082 candidates (86.26%)<\/strong> obtained <strong>five credits and above<\/strong>, regardless of English and Mathematics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose of the SSCE External Examination<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Ibrahim-Wushishi explained that the <strong>SSCE External examination<\/strong> provides an alternative pathway for candidates seeking admission into <strong>universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions<\/strong>, both <strong>within and outside Nigeria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that the examination covered <strong>16 subjects<\/strong> and described the release of the results as a <strong>significant milestone<\/strong> in NECO\u2019s ongoing efforts to deliver <strong>credible, transparent, and reliable assessments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Malpractice Cases: NECO Reports a Sharp Rise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NECO reported that <strong>9,016 candidates<\/strong> were booked for various forms of examination malpractice during the 2025 SSCE External exam.
