The protest has disrupted normal activities, making it impossible to proceed with the ceremony as planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The circular was <strong>signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Ndifon Osai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Original dates and venues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the postponement, UNICROSS had scheduled the 24th matriculation across its campuses as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday, January 29, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 <em>Calabar Campus<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Friday, January 30, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 <em>Ogoja and Okuku Campuses<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All these dates have now been put on hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who the notice affects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The university clarified that the postponement applies to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>All staff<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fresh students admitted for the 2025\/2026 academic session<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Members of the general public<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the circular says<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An excerpt from the notice reads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe postponement is sequel to the ongoing protest by the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of the three non-teaching Unions of the University. A new date will be communicated in due course.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What fresh students should do<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UNICROSS acknowledged that the sudden change may disrupt personal travel and preparation plans. <strong>Fresh students are advised to remain calm<\/strong> and await further official communication from the university management.
