{"id":10881,"date":"2026-01-23T11:04:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T11:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/?p=10881"},"modified":"2026-01-23T11:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T11:04:08","slug":"nuc-approves-civil-mechanical-engineering-programmes-for-fuwukari-from-2025-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/nuc-approves-civil-mechanical-engineering-programmes-for-fuwukari-from-2025-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"NUC Approves Civil, Mechanical Engineering Programmes for FUWUKARI from 2025\/2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval to the <strong>Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI)<\/strong> in Taraba State to commence <strong>two new full-time undergraduate engineering programmes<\/strong> starting from the <strong>2025\/2026 academic session<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The approval allows the university to admit students into <strong>Civil Engineering<\/strong> and <strong>Mechanical Engineering<\/strong>, marking a major expansion of FUWUKARI\u2019s academic offerings in science and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Approval Follows Successful Resource Assessment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Commission, the decision followed a <strong>successful resource assessment visit<\/strong> carried out by a panel of NUC experts to FUWUKARI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NUC explained that the outcome of the assessment\u2014covering staffing, infrastructure, and learning facilities\u2014formed the basis for approving the programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Programmes Approved by NUC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission approved the following undergraduate degree programmes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Civil Engineering<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Mechanical Engineering<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both programmes are approved <strong>strictly for full-time study<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Campus Location and Take-Off Session<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NUC confirmed that the programmes will be run at <strong>FUWUKARI\u2019s Main Campus<\/strong> and will take effect from the <strong>2025\/2026 academic session<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means the university is legally permitted to admit students into the programmes beginning with the next academic cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Full-Time Mode Only \u2014 No Part-Time Approval Yet<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission clearly stated that its approval covers <strong>only the full-time mode of study<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FUWUKARI was cautioned that <strong>any plan to introduce part-time options<\/strong> for the engineering programmes would require <strong>separate approval from NUC<\/strong> before implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Programme Titles Must Remain Unchanged<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NUC also directed the university to <strong>retain the approved programme titles and nomenclature<\/strong> as issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission warned that <strong>any change to the programme names<\/strong> must receive <strong>express authorisation from NUC<\/strong>, in line with regulatory standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Official Letter and Reference<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The approval was conveyed in an official letter <strong>signed by Abubakar M.
