{"id":10616,"date":"2026-01-12T14:45:41","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T14:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/?p=10616"},"modified":"2026-01-12T14:45:43","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T14:45:43","slug":"unicross-moves-to-clean-up-nelfund-loan-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/examkits.com\/blog\/unicross-moves-to-clean-up-nelfund-loan-records\/","title":{"rendered":"UNICROSS moves to clean up NELFUND loan records"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has issued a fresh directive to students who benefited from the Federal Government\u2019s NELFUND Loan Scheme, warning them to <strong>verify their loan status and collect their school fee payment receipts immediately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instruction was contained in an <strong>internal circular dated January 9, 2026<\/strong>, and signed by the <strong>University Bursar, Mr. Wilson Anyiom, MSc, CCA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move comes as the University discovered that although many students\u2019 NELFUND loan applications have already been approved and funded, <strong>a significant number of beneficiaries are either unaware of their approval or unsure of what to do next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What UNICROSS says about the loan approvals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the circular, <strong>some NELFUND loan applications have been successfully approved and disbursements have already been made<\/strong> by the Federal Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, UNICROSS says that several beneficiaries have not completed the required internal verification process, meaning the University cannot officially recognize their school fees as paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This creates a gap between <strong>money released<\/strong> and <strong>fees properly recorded<\/strong>\u2014a problem the University is now moving to fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where students must go and what to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UNICROSS has given clear instructions to all affected students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beneficiaries of the NELFUND loan must report to the:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>ICT Unit, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There, students are expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Verify their NELFUND loan status<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collect their official school fee payment receipt<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This receipt is the University\u2019s proof that the student\u2019s fees have been settled through the loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this step is critical<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The circular makes one thing very clear:<br><strong>No verification, no validation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNICROSS says it will <strong>only validate NELFUND disbursements for students who follow this directive<\/strong>.
