According to the Council, Professor Gumel\u2019s appointment will <strong>take effect from 10 February 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rigorous Selection Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman of the Governing Council, <strong>Professor Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, OFR, NPOM<\/strong>, said the appointment followed a <strong>careful and merit-based selection exercise<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He disclosed that <strong>21 candidates were shortlisted and interviewed<\/strong>, after which Professor Gumel emerged as the <strong>most qualified and successful applicant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Abdulraheem congratulated the Vice-Chancellor-designate and offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he prepares to lead the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gumel Reacts: \u201cA Call to Serve\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In his acceptance remarks, <strong>Professor Gumel expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah<\/strong> for the opportunity to serve. He also thanked the <strong>Joint Selection Panel, the Governing Council, the Chairman of Council, and the current Vice-Chancellor<\/strong> for the confidence reposed in him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He pledged to <strong>consolidate on the achievements of the present administration<\/strong> while working inclusively in the interest of staff, students, and the wider university community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Is Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Gumel is a seasoned academic and administrator with strong international exposure.
