Nigeria\u2019s top examination body has taken an early step toward the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), launching a nationwide accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres to ensure credibility, safety and technical readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)<\/strong> has commenced the accreditation of examination centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to JAMB, the accreditation exercise covers 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria<\/strong> and officially began on Monday, 15 December 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The update was published in JAMB\u2019s Weekly Bulletin<\/strong>, released on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede<\/strong>, disclosed this during an online meeting<\/strong> with key stakeholders involved in the UTME process. Participants included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Professor Oloyede emphasized that the accreditation exercise has far-reaching consequences<\/strong> for UTME candidates and Nigeria\u2019s education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo centre should be approved unless it meets every requirement<\/strong> set by the Board,\u201d he stressed, describing the task as a national responsibility<\/strong> that demands honesty, diligence and sound judgement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The JAMB Registrar also raised concerns about the personal safety<\/strong> of accreditation team members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He advised officials to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary risks and limit movements that could expose them to danger. Professor Oloyede assured participants that adequate security arrangements<\/strong> have been put in place to support the exercise from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n JAMB\u2019s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro<\/strong>, provided insight into the technical screening process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He explained that only centres that successfully passed the mandatory automated system test<\/strong> are being considered for physical accreditation.
